Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)), Using THEMIS-IR images, MOLA topography data, and Viking images, we mapped the clusters of valley networks in the northeast part of the boundary area between Arabia Terra and Terra Sabaea. We identified 10 valley network-systems composed of more than 5,000 valleys, whose total length is about 36,000 km. The drainage areas and drainage densities are ranging from 10,000 to 120,000 sq km and from 0.02 to 0.33, respectively. A positive and strong correlation between the mean slope and the drainage density exists, indicating both that the overall topography of this region has been well preserved even after the formations of the valleys and that the drainage density is likely controlled by the overall slope of the precipitation area at the formation of valley networks., Physical characteristics: Original contains color illustrations, 資料番号: AA0064291029}, pages = {127--130}, publisher = {宇宙航空研究開発機構宇宙科学研究本部, Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)}, title = {Mapping valley networks in the Noachian terrain around the Naktong Vallis, Mars: Topographic control on the Drainage density}, volume = {41}, year = {2009} }
