Under the constraint of the bulk density and the moment of inertia factor, the possible principal stress at a standard point (antijovian at perijove) ranges from 0.12 to 0.22 MPa (tension). Although these values are smaller than the tensile strength of ice, cracking which penetrates through the shell may occur by effects of other deformation processes (not the diurnal tidal stress), or stress concentration to load periodically on weaknesses of the shell., 資料番号: AA0046650056}, pages = {218--221}, publisher = {宇宙航空研究開発機構宇宙科学研究本部, Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA/ISAS)}, title = {The dependence of the surface tidal stress on the internal structure of Europa: On the possibility of the cracking at the icy shell}, year = {2003} }
