The instrument needs a high-speed image sensor with 500 fps (frames-per-second). Up to now, a CMOS image sensor, Micron PB-MV13, is one of the feasible candidates. The radiation environment around Mercury is very severe. The total dose during the mission is provisionally estimated at approximately 70 krad (Si). Therefore, degradation of the CMOS sensor after Co-60 irradiation has been examined. A dark current increased by four times. The degradation of the sensitivity by 11 percent was also found. However, those damages are not fatal for the present purpose.
