In JAXA, experimental approaches including engine tests and scale-model tests have been conducted for jet noise suppression. The scale-model tests play broad roles of proposing new noise suppressors, clarifying the noise suppression mechanisms, validating the numerical analysis, and helping design the suppressors before engine tests.
