Nowadays, satellites mass and lifetimes have been increasing, however, Japanese monopropellant thrusters designs were not improved basically. It is therefore thrusters lifetimes have little margin for satellite demand especially in the 1N thruster. During qualification firing test, some malfunctions (ex. misfiring) occurred. Activities for improving thruster reliability have been conducted since FY2000.
