10MeVプロトンのフラックスが急激に増加した例が見つかった。磁気圏外・太陽風中では対応する10MeVプロトンの更なる増大が見られなかった事から, 10MeVプロトンの増加は,磁気圏内部のダイナミクスが関与した事になる。10MeV プロトンを観測したGOES13/15衛星の地方時は夕方で, プロトンの増加は, 磁場引き伸ばし(thinning)の開始から始まった。同じくGOES 衛星で計測している2MeV 電子のフラックスは, 磁場引き伸ばし(thinning)の開始で減少し, その後の双極子化(depolarization)で増加したが, 10MeVプロトンは, 双極子化(depolarization)では減少せずに, フラックスを維持した。一方, 朝側の地方時に位置していたDRTS衛星でも, 同じタイミングで10MeVプロトンの増加を観測した。GOES13/15及びDRTS衛星位置での10MeVプロトン増加に先立つこと3時間前, 太陽風衝撃波が地球磁気圏に到達した。この時, DRTS衛星は1~5MeVの太陽プロトンの増加を観測した。これらの1~5MeVプロトンは, その後, 半日に亘って静止軌道位置に存在していた。10MeVプロトンも, 衝撃波の到来とよって磁気圏に侵入したと考えられるが,エネルギーが大きい事から, 静止軌道位置には達せずに周辺に存在していた。そして, 磁場の引き伸ばし(thinning)が起きたことによって, 10MeVプロトンが静止軌道位置まで到達できたと考えると,
