In the DNS, a jet is forced by random disturbances and a pair of unstable helical modes. The linear stability analyses indicate that decrease of the shear layer thickness increase the growth rate of the helical modes and increase the azimuthal wave number of the helical modes with subsonic phase velocity. Also, the DNS results show that although the radiated Mach waves are reduced as the azimuthal wave number of the added helical modes pair increase, the jet potential core region gets elongated.
