| 内容記述 | Energy transfer processes in decaying, three-dimensional, isotropic turbulence have been investigated using numerical results from the Local Energy Transfer (LET) Theory. The study covers a wide range of evolved, micro-scale Reynolds numbers (5<R_λ<1100). It has been found that, while the energy transfer is mainly local (between scales of similar size), the nature of the underlying wavenumber interactions changes with Reynolds number ; whereas both local (all three scales of the triad interaction are of comparable sizes) and nonlocal (one scale is much larger than the remaining two) interactions are important at low and moderate Reynolds numbers (R_λ≤50), local interactions become more dominant at higher Reynolds numbers, in agreement with the classical cascade picture of turbulence. Our results, however, are significantly different from the conclusion of Domaradzki and Rogallo (1990) that the energy transfer, which is local in character, is always mainly due to nonlocal wavenumber interactions. | |||||||
