A special equipment was devised in which the high centrifugal load experienced by mounting roots in the actual operating condition is simulated by a statically applied tensile load.The experimental results for the Xmas tree, dovetail and pin joint type of mounting roots indicate the following points : (1) The fixing rigidities of the Xmas tree and the dovetail are affected little by the centrifugal load, while that of the pin joint increases approximately in proportion to the load. The quantitative agreement of the latter result with the existing theory[1] [2] is fairly good.(2) In the case of the Xmas tree and the dovetail the damping capacity decreases with increase in the centrifugal load and with decrease in the blade vibration amplitude. That of the pin joint, on the other hand, exhibits rather complicated behaviors; a fact which may be concluded is that when the clearance around the pin is small the damping versus amplitude relation has the same tendency as in the former two types, but for a larger clearance this tendency is reversed.
