Next, applying the above results, a formula for predicting Young's modulus of short fiber-reinforced materials in connection with the forming condition, that is, rules of orientation of the fibers, is derived. Effects of the length of fibers and the orientation of fibers on Young's modulus are discussed. Finally, the numerical results are compared with experimental data. As for the mechanism of load transfer, the interfacial shear stresses of models measured by means of photoelasticity are used. As for Young's modulus, experimental data measured by the present authors and other authors' data are used.
