Particular attention is given to the power shifts of single-photon and multiphoton transitions, which are not expressed only by the amount but also by the direction. An optical pumping experiment is made to check the validity of the theoretical results, and a good agreement is found. These power shifts cause the errors of optically pumped magnetometers.
