A blocking oscillator with a mesa type Si power transistor, is used as the switching unit. The off-time in the switching sequence is controlled by the error signal, which is obtained by comparing the output voltage to a reference voltage. Since the on-time is kept constant the duty ratio of the switching wave form varies and the filtered output of the switched voltage is regulated to a fixed value (+12V). The repetition frequency of the switching oscillator changes between 5 kc/s and 10 kc/s corresponding to the input voltage variation between 15V and 25V.
