A series of chambers with various values of elastic stress concentration factor for internal pressure loading, are made of ultra high tensile strength steels : HT-140 and PH-200. The chambers are composed of circular cylindrical part and flat end plates. The values of elastic stress concentration α. are varied by varying the thickness of the flat end plate, and calculated by the finite element method for internal pressure loading. The ratio of the experimental burst pressure P_b to the calculated burst pressure assuming elasticity up to final fracture P_a is obtained for various values of α.
