Wall temperature distributions are measured for various coolant flow rates and the effect of the coolant flow rate and slot geometry on cooling effectiveness is discussed in detail. In the case of no coolant injection heating rate in the region of separated flow just downstream of the slot decreases considerably compared with that of the corresponding attached flow. In the case of coolant injection it is shown that there exists an optimum coolant flow rate for which the net heat input within a fairly wide region downstream of the slot becomes a minimum.
