The Institute of Space and Astronautical Science has developed new four-stage solid propellant boosters called MS3-II for this purpose and constructed a gigantic antenna-64m in diameter-in Usuda, located at 150km north-west of Tokyo. These probes successfully encountered Halley's comet in March, 1986. Tracking and orbit determination of these probe's have been smoothly carried out throughout this period using Usuda antenna which has maintained perfect communication linkage with the probes. In preparing for this mission, a large scale software called ISSOP had been developed for use of orbit determination, speding more than five years. In this report the structure of ISSOP is first described.
