It becomes much more impotant to check mirrors in order to construct a Delay-Line interferometer (DL-interferometer) with long arm length as a gravitational wave antenna. The mirrors of DL-interferometer have long focal length more than 100m, and have fairly large diameter (>30cm). The mirrors for DL-interferometer require precisely mutual coincidence of curvature among 4 mirrors, and finest surfaces. Some method for testing and making mirrors are discussed. It is very difficult to measure directly the focal length or curvature because of its long focal length. If a precise master convex curvature is there, this dificulty is able to overcome and becomes easy to test the curvature of concave mirror by use of conventional Newton-ring method within curvature error smaller than 10cm. This fact indicates that the curvature of mirror is able to be measured with high precision. A whole system combined with an autocollimator has high ability to make a convex master curvature, because curvature error smaller than 10cm is detectable by using an autocollimator. It is concluded that the ZYGO system is powerful to measure the roughness of mirror surface. |
