A core with small diameter and long length on which a coil is directly wound was found to be best. An induction sensor that consists of a permalloy core with φ 5 mm×1000 mm and a 10^5-turn coil was constructed. The sensor with weight of only 1600 gr. was set in the Alaska University Campus as a part of the Circum-Northern-Pacific ULF Observation Project.
