The structure of the instrument (CCD camera) was simplifed by using Peltier device for cooling the CCD to eliminate the thermal noise enough for long exposure time. A micro-computer system is employed in the control of the instrument and data processing. The CCD camera has high performances in comparison with conventional photo-graphic emulsion. This is able to benefit from the high quantum efficiency, wide dynamic range and linearity intrinsic to the CCD.
