PPB#6 was launched from Syowa Station, Antarctica by the 34th JARE (Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition) on 5th Jan. 1993. The balloon moved westward by 1.5 circumpolar rounds over Antarctica, covering 6-13g/cm2 atmospheric depth and 63°S-70°S geographic latitude. The long duration flight of PPB#6 over 20days became possible using auto ballast control system, and the total of 584 hours of observations was obtained. The observed intensities of cosmic-ray protons and heliums ranging from 100-500MeV/n increase linearlly with the invariant latitude from 50°to 80°.
