The authors give an overview of thier current research activities and future prospects. Especially, new possibility of inflatable balloons made of high temperature film developed using the latest polymer technology is described in detail. An applicability of the 3-D gore balloon design concept, which is a remarkable result of our current theoretical study, is discussed in terms of its application to a planetary supper-pressure balloon.
