In the nonpolar solvents such as n-hexane, carbon disulfide, carbon tetrachloride, ethyl ether, and benzene, acetylacetone is more enolizable than in the polar solvents such as methanol, and acetonitrile. On the other hand, anisole pinacoline is almost completely enolized in the polar solvent such as methanol.
