| 内容記述 | The pumping speed for hydrogen is considerably less than 3.8 times the speed for air in oil diffusion pumps. In order to explain this reduction in the pumping speed for hydrogen, the influence of back diffusion on pumping speed has been investigated experimentally at various conditions. It is established that this phenomenon is mainly due to the relative ease of back diffusion of lighter molecules through the vapor jet. So the back diffusion is one of the essential phenomena in oil diffusion pumps. (Received June 8, 1951) | |||||||||
