The relation between rolling condition and earing of deep-drawn cups were studied about aluminum sheet of 99.7% purity. Generally four ears appeared, and their positions were at 45° to the rolling direction in cold-rolled state and in and at right angles in recrystallized state. The sheets rolled under higher degree of reduction of about 90 % seemed to show much directionality in cold rolled state, but less directionality in recrystallized state. Then, the relation between strains in the width and thickness dimensions of tension-test pieces were studied, when they were pulled in the direction parallel, normal and at 45° to the rolling direction respectively. The directionality of this relation was closely related to the position and height of ears. This held for some other materials. It is to be noted that the test pieces obtained from sheets having no earing property, left another directionality between the strains in the width and thickness dimensions. |
