| 内容記述 | In order to obtain some knowledges on the degree of separation by a direct fractional distillation procedure, xylene mixture from coal tar was subjected to distillation through an automatic fractionating column. The conditions employed for the distillation were as follows: Theoretical plate number of the column 107plats Through put 680 cc/h Total Holdup 80 cc Still charge 1000 g (1153 cc) Reflux ratio 90 : 1 Distillation pressure 1 atom. Each fraction (4.00 cc) automatically collected from the distillate was analysed for the contents of ethylbenzene, o-, m- and p-xylene by making use of the ultraviolet absorption, and the distillation curve was obtained. From the results obtained following conclusions were obtained: i) Separation of ethyl benzene is suggested to be possible when its content in the still charge is large enough compared to the hold up of the column. ii) The fraction between 15~72% almost consists of m- and p-xylenes, while that of 70% chiefly of pure m-xylene. iii) o-xylene is completly separated from other isomers and has the purity of 99.7% at least. But the fraction between 75~85% has low nD value. This fact suggests the presence of non-aromatic hydrocarbons. | |||||||||
