内容記述 | Drift wave instabilities in low β (≡ gas pressure/magnetic pressure) plasma due to the gradient in particle number density, which are likely to exist on the plasmapause, are discussed with consideration of a slight modification due to the velocity shear. A simple model in configuration space being employed, the growth rate of the low frequency universal drift mode and of the drift cyclotron resonance mode are calculated in modified forms through the Vlasov equation. An argument is made not only to interpret the results obtained but also to examine the applicability of the results to the actual plasmapause, in particular, around dusk meridian region, and the possibility is indicated that these instabilities are slightly enhanced in that region. | |||||||
