The traveling wave representation of a vibrating system is discussed. Delay times and amplitude coefficients are considered to be the characterizing parameters, not only in the nondispersive wave propagation system but also in the dispersive case, if group delay time is defined. Three kinds of correlation method, such as, the correlation envelope method, the squared signal correlation method and the M-sequence correlation method are proposed to measure the group delay time and wave intensity.
