| 内容記述 | The probabilistic aspect of the visibility of earth satellites is studied, with its applications to communication satellites, navigation satellites, weather satellites, reconnaissanec satellites and scientific satellites. While so far proposed methods are based upon the assumption that the orbit is circular, they are extended so that the general case of the elliptic orbit can be handled. A method to evaluate the visible probability of a satellite in an elliptic orbit from a ground station is proposed, where the visible probability is obtained as a function of the location of the station and the orbital elements such as a, e, i and ω. Monte Carlo simulations have been attempted to test the validity of the method, with quite satisfactory results. Also a method to evaluate graphically the average number of conjunctions is presented for the case of the elliptic orbit. With the emphasis upon the application to communication satellites, a method to calculate the so called mutual visibility of a satellite is also derived. As an example, optimum allocation of the satellites among the various orbits to cover a global communication network is discussed, using linear programming technique. The result shows that in some cases the elliptic system is advantageous over the circular one as to the number of the satellites required to assure a given level of link connectivity. Finally, problem of continuous coverage of a specified area of the earth is discussed. Also it has been found that there are cases where the use of the elliptic system is recommended. | |||||||
