内容記述 When a fine metal wire is burned out explosively by discharging a large condenser through it, a cylindrical blast wave is generated around it and propagated outward. The interferometric measurements of he formation, propagation and internal structure of the blast wave produced by this method were carried out over the wide range of its strength. According to these experimental results, it has been confirmed that the blast wave is produced by the piston motion of projected wire dust and heated gas, and that its feature is quite similar to the one calculated under the assumption that the blast wave is produced by instantaneously releasing energy along a straight line. In other words, Taylor-Sakurai's theory agrees very well with the experiments in the initial period. For the flow feature far from the explosion center, which cannot be predicted by Taylor-Sakurai's theory, a new approximation "the quasi-similarity theory" is presented. The basic assumption of this theory is that the distributions of the normalized velocity, pressure and density are nearly similar in the narrow range of shock strength. On this assumption, numerical calculations were made in order to find the distributions of the physical quantities and the decay of the shock front. This corresponds to the generalization of Taylor-Sakurai's analysis to cover the whole range of the shock strengty. On the other hand, following Whitham's method of analysis of the wave of finite amplitude, the flow characteristics far from the center is calculated. It is found that the analysis is in good agreement with our experiments if the shock Mach number is smaller than 1.15. The amount of the energy contained in the blast wave is calculated using the measured distribution of density and some reasonable assumptions, and it coincides with the one predicted from the shock front Mach number using the above theories. In terms of the characteristic length R_0 determined by the total energy, the flow fields of the blast waves with various amount of energy under the several chamber pressure are systematically described. That is, the similarity rule of the blast wave has been established.
