Two methods of pyrometry are established in the present pyrometer : the first is of Na D line reversal type (self-balancing method) and the second is of its modified type (non-balancing method). The both methods are performed by using the photo-electric devices and the bichromator. In the self-balancing method, the accuracy of measurement is 30°K at 2000°K and the response time is about 6 sec. On the other hand, the non-balancing method has the accuracy of 10°K at 2000°K and the response time of 0.1 sec, and besides makes it possible to observe the temperature of the gas having a low emissivity.
