内容記述 The Influence of the heterogeneity of the composition on the molecular weight of the styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer determined by the light scattering is described. Light scattering measurement was carried out in eight solvents : acetone, ethyl acetate, butanone, chloroform, dimethyl formamide, chlorobenzene, bromobenzene, and α-bromonaphthalene. An azeotropic copolymer gives a constant molecular weight independent of the refractive index of the solvent used. Commercial samples having the same mean composition as the azeotropic copolymer show apparent molecular weight varying with the solvent. The relation of the apparent molecular weight to the variation rate of the differential referactive index increment with the composition reveals the cahracteristic distribution of the composition of the copolymer. Litac has the acrylonitrile contant richer for the side of the higher molecular weight. KR, in opposition, has a distribution, in which the higher the molecular weight is, the richer the content of styrene. In the azeotropic copolymer the homogeneity of the composition was proved as generally expected. Commercial Tyril shows the same characteristics.
