From Fig.1 and Fig.2, grains orientated in (100)[100], (331)[110] and (110)[100] can be seen conspicuously. (These textures produce the O° and 90° ears.) AS shown in Fig.3, the height of ears is constant in spite of different rolling conditions and annealing temperatures of plates (see page 237). But causes of ears must be different, because from Fig.1 and Fig.2 we can see different orientation in each plate. That is the most interesting difference compared with 99.7% Al plates. From Table 4 and Fig. 4, the smaller the grain size before the final cold-rolling, the higher the height of ears after annealing, and the regularity of (100)[100] is also as 99.7% Al plate. From Fig.5 and Fig.6 (a), the 45° ears in annealed plates occur only, in plates cold-rolled 98%, of which preferred orientation is shown in Fig.6 (b), There are (110)[112] and (100)[100] textures, but it seems (110)[112] may be active for the forming of ears. The behavior of 99.97% Al plate contained Fe 0.91% (No.4 in Table 1) and Fe 0.12%, Si 0.12% are the same as that of 99.7% Al plate. The effect of Si is less than that of Fe.
