When drastically cold-rolled silicon steel sheets are annealed at high temperatures, we can observe anomalous grain growth, during which the texture of the sheet becomes. (100)[001] orientation, namely the axis of easy magnetization becomes to arrange parallel to the rolling direction. This phenomenon has been applied technically as anisotropic transformer core sheet, but the mechanism of this crystallographic orientation has been an unknown problem. We studied this mechanism by means of etching figure method and obtained some results. The samples were 3% Si-iron sheets reduced 70% by cold-rolling. These samples were annealed at several temperatures between 800℃ and 1200℃, and the orientation relation between neighbouring grains was examined. In many cases we could observe the rotation of lattice about the [110] or [112] axis among neighbouring grains. This relation of lattice rotation (we call it the rotation twin relation) seems to be important not only for the theory of the origin of recrystallization textures but also for the theory of dislocation. |
