Siebel's eqation originally proposed for compression. The calculated results thus obtained were compared with the experimental ones obtained using a testing machine, under various experimental conditions, that is, dry or smooth frictional conditions between tools and metals and various dimensions of test pieces and tools. The tested materials were work hardened 2S aluminium and 65/35 brass, and annealed 2S aluminium. The metal flow patterns on the central sections of worked pieces were also studied.
