内容記述 In the present research problems relating to the season cracking of the aluminium alloy containing 9% zinc, 2% magnesium and 3% copper are dealt with. Firstly, attempts were made to investigate the relation between the season cracking and corrosion with special attention directed on the properties of the crystal boundaries of the alloy. Similar to the tempered aluminium-magnesium alloys it has been ascertained that when the alloys of this series are in a very susceptible condition to season cracking, for instance when tempered for four days at 60℃ after quenching, they are prone to intercrystalline corrosion by dipping in 3% NaCl solution. It has been found however, that, when the alloys show no tendency to intercrystalline corrosion by simple corrosive agent, for instance when tempered for three hours at 160℃, they preferentially form deep season cracks by the application of stress beyond a certain limit together with a certain medium of corrosion. Secondly, the quenched and tempered conditions of the alloy were found to be not always stabilized at room temperature, but sometimes the aging proceeds with the lapse of time, which shows special sensitive effects on season cracking. Such phenomenon also occurs in vacuum of about 2mm Hg; so this is deemed to be caused not by the atmospheric corrosion but by the fact that the aging velocity of the alloys is locally very different and the delayed parts gradually continue to age even at room temperature.
