The ray of sound is projected onto a Helmholtz's resonator and the sound field in its neighbourhood is measured in detail. When the resonator is out of tune, slight effect is had by its existence on the sound field and when the resonator resonates, it accumulates the energy of sound from the surrounding field and part of it is emitted back outwardly as a spherical wave. |
