| 内容記述 | On the Selection of the Types of Controlling and Indicating Devices with a View to Minimize the Mental Work of the Pilot. (Ist Report). By K. Tomiduka.-It is quite evident that the mental work of the pilot is so important in controlling the present-day aeroplanes, which are not thoroughly automatic, that the mental test of the pilot is always necessary besides the physical ones. But, up to the present, no investigation has been done, on the selection of most suitable types of controlling and indicating devices chiefly with a view to lighten the mental work of the pilot, and yet no rules have been established in this concern. As the result, all are determined solely by the caprice of the designers, that conduces to the great degree of complexity in types of controlling and indicating systems. This complexity no doubt, is very perplexing to the brain of the pilot, and occasionally leads to very dangerous results. In this paper, the author has first classified the types and has conducted experiment to ascertain which is the best. The measured quantity is the choice reaction time. This quantity varies very widely according to the types of devices, and the importance of investigation on this problem is clearly shown. | |||||||
