内容記述 On the Cooling of Altitude Chamber. By K. Tomiduka and M. Kobayasi: - To keep the state of air surrounding the engine equal to that of high altitude is the ideal of the altitude tests of aeroplane engines, and so we must reduce both pressure und temperature in the chamber. In these two, the former can easily be realized, while the latter involves considerable amount of difficulty. The object of the present authors is to find some suitable means for reducing the temperature inside the chamber. First of all, they tried to use turbine, for the purpose of taking away the external work of air admitted to the chamber under some pressure drop, and to utilize the temperature drop due to adiabatic expansion. This idea is not new, but is not yet realized. The turbine they adopted is the Rateau exhaust-turbo-compressor for 300 H.P. Hispano aero-engine, some modification being given to its nozzle plate in order to regulate the depression. And clearances between rotor and casing are carefully packed against leakage from outside. The turbo-compressor acts in this case as brake in absorbing the work given to the turbine rotor from the air jet. The temperature drop thus obtained is amounting from about 43 to 83% of the theoretical drop due to adiabatic expansion. This is quite a satisfactory result. Lastly they express their idea of logical cooling systems for the altitude chamber.
