It was found both theoretically and experimentally that the rate of rotation was nearly proportional to dГ/dy, where Гis the circulation and y is the distance along the span, provided that the wind vane was sufficiently small and properly placed behind the model. The allowable diameter of the wind vane is estimated to be of the order of one per cent of the span. The present miniature test was made as a preliminary investigation in order to determine the applicablity of a wind vane for such a purpose.
