Institute of Industrial Science , the University of Tokyo), Meguro-ku, Tokyo, Japan, Three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) numerical simulation is carried out to examine the influence of the Hall effect on MHD flow control in earth reentry flight with attack angles. In the simulation, the Hall effect is taken into account. Numerical results show that the Hall effect distorts the distribution of the electric currents around a reentry vehicle with attack angles. The distortion of electric currents leads to the generation of a side force on the vehicle, although the side force obtained under the present simulation conditions is considerably weak compared with a drag and a lift force.
