Based on the results, a new view which explains the physical mechanism is introduced by which energy is transferred from the long-wavelength free-stream disturbances to the short wavelength boundary layer instability waves. It is shown that the receptivity process can be understood more easily by focusing on the movement of vorticity fluctuation
