In the present flow visualization study, the following methods have been examined: (1) the application methods of a mixture of oil and pigment such as an oil dots method and an oil film method; (2) the effect of the property of oil on streak lines using silicone oil and paraffin oil (liquid paraffin); (3) a print method to obtain panoramic view on a circular cylinder; and (4) a liquid crystal method. Oil film method is found to be advantageous than oil dots method in supersonic flow. Paraffin oil draws streaks, while silicone oil draw no streaks. Liquid crystal did not visualize the necklace vortices in front of the engine
