The static pressure tube of 1 mm in diameter with four small holes of 0.4 mm in diameter was connected at the end to a condenser microphone. The structure and the dimension of the probe were determined so as to minimize errors in the measurements of fluctuating static pressure. The three-dimensionally complicated vortical structures in a rectangular jet were detected by measuring the phase-average fluctuating pressure over the flow field.
