Various hypersonic lifting flight data on aerodynamics, thermal protection system etc., were acquired during the flight. In this paper, Navier-Stokes CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) code and FEM (Finite Element Method) thermal response analysis are coupled in order to simulate more completely the aerothermal environments of HYFLEX re-entry flight. Numerical computations are made along the flight trajectory. The results of the present numerical simulation are compared with the flight data of surface pressure and temperature measurements. It is demonstrated that the flight data of aerodynamic characteristics and aerothermodynamic heating can be well simulated by the present coupling simulation
