The tests for this purpose, such as alpha/beta sweep tests and control surface excitation tests were conducted during the hanging flights and automatic landing flights. By analyzing the flight test data obtained at Woomera test area in Australia, the aerodynamic characteristics of the ALFLEX vehicle are estimated and the results are compared with those predicted from the wing tunnel tests. As a result, the estimated characteristics are similar to the predicted ones except for a few characteristics. Although the results extracted from the hanging flights were scattered due to the measurement errors caused by the effects of an umbilical cable, the method will be useful if the problem is solved by
