Numerical simulation is carried out to estimate the contribution of each term in the vorticity transport equation. It is shown that the vorticity fluctuation contour can be divided into two parts. The pattern close to the wall is created by the balance between the streamwise convection and the diffusion normal to the wall. At the pattern away from the wall, the streamwise convection is balanced by the convection of the average vorticity field in the normal direction. This normal convection is caused by the velocity induced by the vorticity fluctuation pattern itself.
