The experimental results indicate that the critical back pressure ratio has the local maximum point around Re(sub th) = 5,000, and on the Reynolds number range over about 5,000 the discharge coefficients show complicated behaviors due to the interaction between the boundary layer and the shock waves in the diffuser after the back pressure ratio exceeds the critical value.
