This work, which has been done within a framework of Japan-German (NAL-DLR) cooperative research, aims for validation and/or improvement of CFD codes through a comparison between either code to code or code to experimental data. Wind tunnel tests on an elastic half-span SST-type model were carried out for steady and unsteady cases with a fixed or forced oscillated control surface. The dynamic deformation of the model as well as the unsteady aerodynamics was measured for six tested cases, at Mach number 0.9 and 0.98 with the aileron frequencies from five to 25 Hz. The NAL CFD code for flutter simulation is based on the three-dimensional thin-layer approximated Navier-Stokes equation. The CFD code employed by DLR is based on the three-dimensional Euler equations with integral boundary layer coupling. For the steady case, the computed results by NAL and DLR are in good agreement, but the measured pressure distributions do not coincide with the computed results concerning the pressure peak position. For unsteady case no significant differences between the results computed by NAL and DLR were observed. The prediction of unsteady aerodynamics around control surface remains for further
