A cubic region of the side of 1 pc is considered. Inside the region, the gas is initially uniform and a random velocity field is imposed. The physical properties appropriate to the internal condition of molecular clouds are given. The evolution is numerically followed with special attention to formation of high density cores in the turbulent medium. The effects of the thermal nature of gas and the self-gravity are also examined. The results show that dense and compact cores are formed in a highly disturbed medium.
