The criteria and growth rates of this inflectional instability for both two-dimensional (in one-dimensional base flow) and three-dimensional (in two-dimensional base flow) viscid cases have been investigated with linear stability theory. The comparison between these cases shows that the general criterion and parameters for inviscid instability in one-dimensional base profiles can extend to that in two-dimensional base flow case.
