In this research, the Automatic Landing Flight Experiment (ALFLEX) with a HOPE scale model was conducted as an essential step in the development of HOPE. The purpose of the ALFLEX project was to demonstrate the fundamental technology of automatic landing for the HOPE. The flight experiment was conducted successfully at Woomera in the Commonwealth of Australia from June to August, 1996.
